English: Critical Analysis of Chinese Eco-cities Development

Chinese: 中国生态城镇发展现状问题及其批判性分析

Abstract of presentation 

English：In order to implement energy efficiency and reduction of carbon emission, many Chinese cities have proposed to target eco-city as their development strategy. Eco-city has become a main urban development and planning theme in China. However, some problems exist in the process of eco-city development. According to the investigation of general eco-city initiatives in China and critically analysis of some cases, the author presents the eco-city initiatives in China and identifies seven common problems in the process. It is the arguments of author that it is unavoidable to have difficulties and problems in eco-city initiative as an innovative urban development approach, although there are some puzzles in the process, Chinese eco-cities are under their way of development.

Chinese：为了实现节能、减排，中国不少城市将生态城的发展作为城镇发展的战略目标。生态城的规划和建设成为中国当前的城市发展的一个重要主题。然而，在中国生态城的规划和建设过程中存在一系列的问题。对中国生态城镇调研和案例分析的基础上，作者论述了中国生态城的发展现状和存在的7个主要的共性问题。作者认为作为一种创新型的城市发展模式，中国生态城镇在的探索过程中出现各种各样的问题是难免的，中国的生态城镇发展存在困惑，但仍然在成长。
