Centre for Sustainable Communications - Communication for innovation and wellbeing
The Centre for Sustainable Communications will develop innovative communication services which can contribute to sustainable development. The aim is to stimulate innovation, reduce consumption of natural resources and enhance social wellbeing.
The vision is for a society with sustainable behaviour patterns in which innovative communications services provide a real alternative to current travel and transportation. The Centre for Sustainable Com-munications will contribute to a strong Swedish economy and everyone’s right of involvement whilst reducing the burden on natural resources. This route means the development of innovative and user-orientated services, products, milieus, business models, methods and tools for partner organisations and external organisations as well as joint spin-offs and companies.
"Eye-to-eye" is one example of technology developed at the Center. This is a form of modern video conferencing for personal calls or major webcasts and is anticipated to make major penetration as automated services in the broadband network; exactly like ordinary telephone calls. The researchers are collaborating with such others as the KTH project Community Hub, which provides superfast broadband and media technology to households in Sweden.
The Centre for Sustainable Communications brings together researchers in a range of technical fields plus the environment and sustainability, social and cultural sciences and architecture and design.
